About Us

Welcome!

We are a small daycare located in Hawthorne, Florida for children ages 0-5 years (or until they start school). I, Tammy, the owner, keeps a low ratio of children (following state rules) to ensure that you child gets the individual attention he/she deserves.

I believe that child-led play with a predictable schedule everyday helps to build safe, secure, happy children who are ready and eager to learn. Music and imagination is built into everyday activities. Starting at age 2.5-3 years old, preschool activities are built into their day, including learning letters, simple reading, science, counting, bible stories and even simple Spanish lessons!

Children love playing outdoors...who can blame them! Don't we all love fresh air? As long as the weather is good, we go outside to play twice a day or take a walk around the neighborhood.

Each child is unique and develops that his/her own pace. I strive to make a warm, inviting environment for each child to grow and develop.  I believe through my life experiences and the valuable knowledge I have learned through the state of Florida to become a registered home daycare, that I will be able to provide a loving, warm, nurturing, safe environment for your little one.

 Tammy Abarca-Pons, Owner:

I decided to get into childcare after much soul searching about what I wanted to be "when I grew up". I have been to and moved around to many parts of the United States growing up, including but not limited to: California, Virginia, Washington state, Washington, DC, South Florida, Tennessee, Kansas, Texas, and more. I have also lived in Gitmo, Cuba for 2 years and visited Costa Rica 3 times.

I married my high school boyfriend, had two children with him and then, unfortunately, we divorced in March 2006. After separating from my ex-husband, I come back to the area in October 2004 to be close to the support of my family I knew I would need.

Since then I have met my one true soul-mate and we have been together ever since. My husband is Costa Rican and Spanish is his first language. He is currently living in Costa Rica as we sort through the legalities of him coming to the USA legally. My 2 children, who attend school, are excited at having little ones in our home.

Michael Pons, Emergency Substitute:

Michael is my dad and emergency substitute. He has spent time as a Cub Scout assistant leader, PTA Vice President and coached little league baseball. Mike is wonderful with children, kind and gentle but firm. He allows children to come to him on their own terms when they are comfortable. He has even had little ones that meet him for the first time, crawl up on his lap and take a nap while laying on his chest!

Mike has gone through the necessary training required by the state of Florida, as well as had his fingerprinting and background check. He currently works for the dept.of Transportation and has held his employment there for almost 20 years. His employment with the FDOT has allowed him do to many things such as engine repair and vehicle maintenance, road work, carpentry, safety training, on-call emergency which has enabled him to forge working relationships with police officers, 911 staff operators, and other various professionals in the community and much more.

Michael is an invaluable part of Lil Sprouts Daycare as back up for any emergencies that may come up with myself (the owner :) ).
