I believe that the first years of a child's life are his most important informative years. Children are growing & developing by leaps and bounds during these years. It is important that children receive positive encouragement and reinforcement to grow and mature into the next stages of life. These years are the foundation and building blocks of your child's life!
I strive to encourage your child to be the best he/she can be through play, learning, nurturing and positive attitudes. This will happen through constant interaction with principals and research learned through others as well as basic biblical principals and teachings. Each day will be the same routine, but activities will vary depending on the interest of the children.
Seeing the world through the eyes of a child is a special thing. Lil' Sprouts strives to take that natural curiosity of a child to use a teaching moments by talking, showing, loving and encouraging the child. My life has taught me how to be extremely patient and accepting of all children and their families. I realize that leaving your child with a caregiver may not be your ideal situation, which is why I like to create a trusting, supportive relationship for the benefit of all involved.
Behavior Management Philosophy:
As children grow and mature from cute little bundles of joy to the curious exploration of a preschooler, they naturally will try to push limits, investigate what things will do (not understanding that harm it can do to things or others) and more. Children encounter many different ways that they are given limits and boundaries as they learn the world in which they live. Because of this, physical punishment will never be used in Lil' Sprouts Daycare. Each situation will be objectively looked at to determine if it was an accident, not "knowing better", testing boundaries, etc.
Generally a child will be given an expected progression of reactions for discipline:
Step 1: Short, brief, age appropriate explanation of what wrong what they can do better with redirection
Step 2: Positive Reinforcement: Catch the child exhibiting the correct behavior and encourage it.
Step 3: Time-out (one minute per age i.e. One yr old=One Minute, etc)
Step 4: For continued challenges, a conference will be called with the parent(s) to work on solutions.
For young toddlers and babies yet unable to fully understand the correction methods above, redirection, as well as positive enforcement of good behavior will be given.
